Howee American Staffordshire Terrier Adult Female in Clinton, Tennessee

My story
Foster Needed - In mid-March, two friendly female dogs strayed onto a property adjacent to a very busy highway in Clinton.

They were given water and monitored, as the family hoped they’d return to their home.

They did not, but rather they moved onto the front porch.

Since then, this kind family has been doing its best to care for the dogs and keep them safe.

With a large family and many other dogs of their own, this family is beyond overstretched and reached out to the Anderson County Animal Rescue Foundation (AC ARF) for help.

AC ARF is now looking to find an immediate foster.

The good news is…they were microchipped! AC ARF had the dogs scanned and was able to find their owner, learn a little of their story and their history!

(We love microchips!)

The dogs were tracked to the Young-Williams Animal Shelter in Knoxville.

Chun, a Golden Retriever mix, and Howee, a black/white pit mix, were surrendered together the shelter by an Asian family.

They had known much love and had become a bonded pair.

Chun and Howee were adopted in November 2022.

Their new owner retained the dog’s original names. The Asian name Chun represents spring, joyful, love and life,

and Howee denotes loved one or honey.

Appropriate names for these sweethearts!

Chun and Howee were likewise loved and cared for by their new owner.

In March their new owner experienced an acute health issue and, while recovering, arranged for the dogs to be cared for.

Sadly, the dogs wandered and became lost until they found our Good Samaritan family.

AC ARF learned that the current owner is not able to take the dogs back until his health is cleared, and is not comfortable returning the dogs to their former caretaker.

He loves his dogs dearly and looks forward to having them back home with him.

The dogs are clearly bonded and it would be heartbreaking to break them apart, so AC ARF is looking for an immediate foster to care for both dogs for 1-2 months.

Here is what our Good Samaritan family has learned about these girlies over the past two weeks.

"They are undemanding and well behaved.

They are house- and crate-trained.

They do not wander from their current home when they go outside to go potty.

They walk well on a leash and understand and respond to most basic commands – sit, stay, drop it, down, stop, shake, outside and potty.

And treat…they love to hear that word!

Two year-old Chun loves playing.

In true retriever custom, she insists on taking a toy out with her to go potty and carries it around until she is done, and is always ready for a game of fetch.

Four-year old Howee is an easy-going love bug typical of a Staffy Terrier mix.

She likes to sleep, eat or cuddle."

These dogs are spayed and fully up to date on vaccinations and preventatives.

AC ARF’s mission is to help keep dogs safe, happy, healthy and in a home.

Please consider fostering these well behaved, low maintenance dogs and help keep them out of the shelter until they can go back home.
